Yeovil in Bloom strikes Gold yet again at South West in Bloom competition!
For the seventh time, Yeovil in Bloom has been awarded Gold at the South West in Bloom competition presentation.
The presentation was held at Dartmouth Naval College yesterday (Thursday 24 September) and was been attended by representatives of the Yeovil in Bloom team including the Yeovil in Bloom Steering Group Chairman – David Recardo, South Somerset District Council’s Principal Horticultural Officer – Steve Fox and the Yeovil in Bloom Promotions Officer – Lesley Jelleyman.
Along with being presented Gold in the overall competition, Yeovil in Bloom also received two ‘outstanding’ It’s Your Neighbourhood awards for Kenmore Drive Residents Association and King Arthur Drive Residents. Four ‘Thriving’ It’s Your Neighbourhood awards were also received for Brympton Allotments Association, The Foyer, Huish Primary School and West Abbey Residential Home.
Chairman of the Yeovil in Bloom Steering Group, Councillor David Recardo said, “Once again we are extremely pleased that we have won another Gold award along with the It’s Your Neighbourhood awards, all of which are very well deserved.
“Credit must go to those staff that grow and produce the flowers each year. Many surrounding towns and villages who also won awards, such as Sherborne and Milborne Port, purchase their display flowers from us and we are proud of that fact.
“The awards to all the It’s Your Neighbourhood winners will be presented at tomorrow’s Super Saturday event in Yeovil Town and we look forward to celebrating our achievement with the people of Yeovil. We must thank the people of Yeovil who really get behind Yeovil in Bloom each year, endorsing what we do and supporting the floral displays on show. We receive many kind correspondences of praise through-out the year which are very pleasing to read”.
Last year, Yeovil in Bloom won Gold in the overall competition and was also awarded two Best Allotment awards, Silver Gilt in the Park awards and presented with eleven ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood’ awards.
This coming weekend, Yeovil Town Council will be holding its annual Super Saturday event in the town centre which will include the Flower and Gardeners’ Market and also the residents Yeovil in Bloom awards presentations.
