My wonder week

Posted: July 20, 2014 in Whats happening in Yeovil

On Saturday last week I went to West Wilts Golf Club with other members of Yeovil Golf Club to play a match, I had a disastrous round, one you wish to forget, this said I have good reason to remember it, I partnered a lad called Carwyn, who gave me some useful pointers on how to improve my game, and did they make any difference, well: –

The following Monday I played for the seniors against High Post Golf Club, I partnered Neil, a Scot, with attitude. We gelled as a pair, when my shot was wayward he was straight and Vies a Versa, we won that game on the 15 green, shaking hands, and continuing to complete the round with our visitors, my game was outstanding, what a difference a day makes.

The following Wednesday I played for the seniors at Bulbury Woods Golf Club, I partnered Keith, we also gelled as a pair, but this time my putter was smoking, I was warned that the greens were treacherous and very fast, my putter tamed them, I could not do anything wrong, it was one of those days, you don’t want to end, we won again, shaking hands on the 14 green, with muttering of bandit from the home team. Very dog has his day and this was my day, if I hit the ball, it was a good one, a real pleasure to play.

Then came Friday, I played in the Friendly fours, teams of two girls, two boys, I was out driving everyone else in our team of 4, it was a Texas scramble so the tee shots were very useful, because of my handicap I only had to contribute one tee shot, but, I was very popular and once the required drives were used up most of the remaining ones were mine, it was great, my magic on the greens continued and our team ended up coming second, missing the top spot by one stroke.

Sunday came with Bryan and I hitting the Newton course at Yeovil for 9 holes, sorry Bryan , but you didn’t know what you were getting, my 9 hole score was 41, with a 27 handicap that’s not bad, Bryan’s score was not so good but we have been playing together for years, he knows, one week your up the next your not, he’ll get his own back perhaps next weekend how knows.

Tomorrow I am playing in the seniors medal at Yeovil, I hope my form continues and I can put in a good round, as I really believe my handicap is to high, but, perhaps I can win one before I get cut! Only time will tell.
