Posing before the competition started

Yesterday, Yeovil hosted the Town Criers Competition, this competition is an annual event and is one of a series of competitions that occur across the country, yesterday was Yeovil’s turn.
The day was very pleasant there were only a few scattered showers, that pasted almost unnoticed, the criers were all in good voice and their regalia was a picture to see.

The morning cries was about their home town and was judged on clarity, volume and presentation, the regalia were also judged in the morning.

The afternoon cry was of their own choice and the subjects covered were varied and comical. I have to say it was a pleasure being a part of the day, it was very entertaining.

Thank you to the Council for arranging it with our Town Crier, and a BIG thank you to all the Town Criers who came to support the competition, below is the Hastings Town Crier in full cry, he came with his Wife and Baby to support the event, that’s a 6 hour trip each way, needles to say they took lodgings for the weekend, so he would be fresh for the competition.

Full Cry

He came with his Wife and Baby, all the way from Hastings
