Here I am again looking at a damp Sunday morning. The clocks changed last night, but alas I did not benefit from a lay-in as the grandchildren stayed over (Mummy and Daddy were having a Halloween Party). I bet they had a sleep in.

As a gardener, it is a sad time of year, the summer bedding has to come out and the spring bedding has to go in, we go from colourful, too bland in one day, the Sweet Williams are in as are the Primroses, Polyanthus and Pansies. They will look great in the spring amidst the Daffodils. The planters and hanging baskets are getting striped out and cuttings are being taken for next year, I don’t know how well they will do, as I no longer have heat in my greenhouse and that may have to change, well see how things go. If it changes that will be more expense, so I will have to weigh up the cost of plants against the pleasure value and cost of electricity, I do like fiddling in my greenhouse in the spring, bringing on my own plants, it is such a feeling of achievement when you see them all in flower in the summer.

All the Towns flower beds are now stripped out, and the spring bedding is now planted, the baskets and planters are safely gathered in, there was very little damage to the displays this year, perhaps the yobs have grown up and have more interesting things to do, maybe they have found gardening for themselves, who knows. Of course they may have just left town. We’ll see what happens next year before we pass judgement.

I would like to express my thanks to all our horticultural team for all their hard work throughout the year, they have without a doubt made our town a better place to live and work.

On a different note; My automatic all-seeing and dancing watch, did not reset itself over night so I have to find the instructions to put it on the right settings to correct the issue, I have to go around the house putting all the clocks right as they are all an hour fast now. That will not take long but the electronic ones will take a bit longer as I have to remember how to do it, each one is different but I will get there eventually. ————– “There that’s one job done”.

I have spent the last two weeks on the road with my job, it’s tough but someone has to do it, I have a day off tomorrow then back on the road again, for one day anyway. Brockenhurst in the New-Forrest is a nice place to visit at this time of year, with the changing colours in the trees and shrubs, the New-Forrest ponies are frisky at this time of year, I wonder why ?? I was hoping to visit Stourhead Lake & Gardens ( http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/stourhead/ ) this weekend but the weather is not good enough, I bet the trees are a picture there, I hope to get a chance soon, I love to take photos of the colours at this time of year.

On a totally different note I have rebuilt my computer over the last few weeks, I now have a super-fast “i5 Intel Quad Core Processor” (www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/processors/core/core-i5 ) on an Intel Motherboard with 4Gb Ram and a 1Tb hard-drive and a 1Gb Graphics card, If I said it flies that would be an understatement “It Rocks” The only down side is that I have to put all my favourites back and find all my passwords again, good job the secret piece of paper was put somewhere safe. That’s it for this time, I hope my reader finds this interesting and I am not just writing to myself. It would be nice to get some feedback from time to time, “nice feedback that is”.
